Vintage Notes
The 2012 Merlot was sourced from the Central Coast's Hames Valley AVA. High winds, dry days and ocean fog from the Pacific Ocean create a cool, long growing season, allowing the fruit to stay on the vine longer, leading to full, forward fruit flavors and ideal acidity. The wine was fermented in stainless steel and completed malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, where it aged for 8 months prior to bottling.

89 Points
"Distinct aromas of pomegranate-glazed mushrooms and red pepper spice. Cracked black pepper and a hint of green herbs carries the palate, which holds a bittersweet cranberry note through the finish."

88 points, Very Good,
Strong Recommendation

"Inky purple color. Nose is slightly mute in the initial inhalations, then it pops open with more air contact, giving off sedate fragrances of black pepper, pomegranate, black raisin. Flavor is alive with the pomegranate aspect, which becomes tarter as the experience advances to the aftertaste."
- 2014 Ultimate Wine Challenge
87 points, Best Buy
"Dark ruby color. Aromas of grilled herbed chicken skin, chocolate and dried berries with a supple, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a plum pie and créme brulee accented finish. A pleasant everyday sipper.Highly Recommended."
- 2014 Beverage Testing Institute
